BRIEF CURRICULUM VITAE

I am currently employed as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Neuropsychiatry at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer by St George’s Hospital Medical School London. I am based at the St George’s Hospital, London.   My current responsibilities include Neuropsychiatry services to the Regional Neurosciences Centre based at Atkinson Morley Wing of St George’s Hospital, London and the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Centre, Wimbledon.  I am a fully qualified Medical Practitioner on the Specialist register of GMC.   I am qualified as a General Psychiatrist and Liaison Psychiatrist with special interests in the field of Neuropsychiatry, Affective disorder, Somatoform disorders and Dissociated disorders.   I have a particular interest in Neuropsychiatric disorders following Traumatic Brain Injuries and Neurological illnesses.

I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, British Neuropsychiatric association, American Neuropsychiatric association and International Neuropsychiatric Association. I have in addition, academic qualifications, Doctor of Medicine in Psychiatry (MD) and Master of Science in Psychological medicine (MSc) with distinction.  I am approved in accordance with section 12 of the mental health act (1983).   I am trained in medical ethics and evidence based medicine.   I am a member of the Wandsworth research ethics committee, which is involved in scrutinising all the local research. I organise the St George’s MRCPsych Part I course (day release course, necessary for training of all the psychiatrists). I am regularly involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and other professionals on Neuropsychiatry and have published several scientific papers.  I organise biannual Neuropsychiatry Educational Forum and edit The Blue Book.
I have over 9 years of experience in preparation of medical legal reports. I have received instructions from solicitors acting on behalf of defendants, claimants and as a joint expert. A majority of my most recent instructions have been as a single joint expert.

Organiser of Neuropsychiatry Educational Forum – It is a voluntary forum created and run by myself with the help of a recurrent funding from a charity “Institute of Social Psychiatry”. This forum offers neuropsychiatry related education twice a year (in partnership with CEPPF). There are free places available for trainees and allied staff. (since December’ 2005).

Editor of “The Blue Book” – This is a publication of the South West London & St George’s MH NHS Trust. A new edition is published every 6 months. (since October’ 2003).

Member of the educational committee of the International Neuropsychiatric Association. Member of the educational committee of the Special Interest Group in Neuropsychiatry (SIGN) at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
